Story Of Sharad Purnima

A moneylender had two daughters. Both used to observe full moon fast. Once the elder daughter duly observed the full moon day, but the younger daughter abandoned the fast.

Due to which the children of the little girl used to die as soon as she was born. Once the little girl’s child became alive due to the virtuous touch of the moneylender’s elder daughter.

It is said that from that day onwards this fast started being celebrated lawfully.

Purnima Tithi will start from 07 PM on 19th October, which will end at 08:20 PM. The auspicious time of worship on this day will be from 05.27 pm onwards after moonrise.

Worship Method For Sharad Purnima

On this day, get up in the Brahma Muhurta and take a bath in a holy river or water by pouring Ganges water. After that wear clean clothes.

Now spread a red cloth on a wooden post or pad and purify it with Gangajal. After this, install the idol of Goddess Lakshmi on the post and wear red chunari.

Now worship Goddess Lakshmi duly with red flowers, perfume, naivedya, incense-lamp, betel nut etc. After this, recite Lakshmi Chalisa in front of Maa Lakshmi.

Keep in mind that after the worship is over, do aarti. At the same time, worship the mother and Lord Vishnu again in the evening and offer Arghya to the moon.

After this, make kheer made of rice and cow’s milk and keep it in the light of the moon. Keep in mind that in the middle of the night, offer Kheer to Goddess Lakshmi and feed it to all the family members in the form of Prasad.
